He was a WWII marine vet who got wrapped in in the LA mob scene. While dating Lana Turner, he visited her on set when she was filming a scene with Sean Connery. Guy sees them doing a romantic scene and jumps onto the set brandishing a pistol and telling Connery to take his hands off her. Connery snatched the pistol out of his hands and slapped him around; apparently Sean Connery was quite the scrapper in his youth, didn't know he was such a legit tough guy. I want to see if they caught that on film.
Anyway Lana kept dating this idiot for some reason, and one night they got into a fight in LA when Lana's 15 year old daughter was around. Story goes that the daughter grabbed a butcher knife and stabbed him to death, but most likely Lana killed him and had her daughter take the fall, since as a minor she wouldn't go to jail. Crazy wurl.
