All of this Pi Day talk makes me think of this guy who I heard on NPR one day. He was a journalist who went to cover some sort of memory competition where you have to memorize the order of two decks of cards in a randomized order, etc. I don't recall the whole interview but anyway he decided to train for it and actually compete while he covered it. Long story short he won the whole thing, but interesting part is, he, and others, say you don't have to be a genius or anything to do that kind of stuff, there's just certain "tricks" to memorizing massive amounts of certain kinds of information.
